Impacting Canada's Terrain

Impact 2000 Inc. was established on November 1, 1999 as a small permitting and consulting company with only six employees. The Company has grown from a permitting, mapping and approvals business to full project management and energy service company.

“Basically, we are a full service seismic project management company,” says Mike Wolowich, President of Impact 2000. “We follow the Canadian Association of Geophysical Contractors and Enform industry recommended best practices.” Impact 2000 also conforms to the Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) and the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) guidelines.

Impact 2000 Inc. has developed its own proprietary software over the past year to adapt commercially available project management software to an effective tool for planning, scheduling and controlling costs and outcomes of seismic programs.

Impact 2000 Inc. believes that the best results are achieved when the project manager is an independent party, not presenting a conflict of interest. The Company conducts strict bidding and equalization processes. Additionally, the Company receives compensation and remuneration from its clients, with respect to services provided to its clients and only in accordance with its current published and agreed upon business terms.

“The seismic industry is a very competitive business, therefore, in order to maintain a strong working relationship with our clients, we provide strong safety practices and reporting, quality data products and cost controls on all projects,” Wolowich says.

SEISMIC ACQUISITION

The geophysical service industry is highly regulated, highly competitive and a capital and
labour intensive sector. Seismic survey is often conducted in extreme weather conditions and in
hazardous and environmentally sensitive areas.

As a result, Impact 2000 Inc. follows highly structured and disciplined approaches to strive to
achieve the following goals: Safe and environmentally friendly operations and compliance with
convents, regulations, authorizations, permits, approvals and client defined parameters and
acquisition of “ excellent” seismic data to reduce exploration risks and costs; timely acquisition
of seismic data to facilitate such things as land sales and exploration decisions; acquisition of
data at a reasonable overall cost

SAFETY

Over the last 12 months, Impact 2000 completely renovated their Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System from having consultant-only safety employees to having four full-time HSE personnel in an effort to continually improve practices.

“We’re now web-based and interactive, which will promote instant sharing of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) information company wide,” says Wolowich. “These are the things that we do better than anybody else. We’re paying attention to what’s going on in safety and the importance of it.”

OPERATIONS

Impact 2000 Inc. started the latest substantial staff expansion in October 2009 and hired employees as key personnel that would contribute to growth and develop in new divisions.

“We’re now doing 2D and 3D participation acquisition and we’re building a data library that would be used as we collect seismic data in conjunction with partners of an oil company,” says Wolowich. “We retain ownership of the data, manage the data and then have a sales and marketing group that sell that data to whoever wanted to buy it. We’re maintaining ownership of that data now.”

The Company also maintains their Data Management Services Division, which includes a vast knowledge in ownership, land, scouting, permitting, GIS mapping, plan, design, approvals and field representatives.

Impact 2000 Inc. is committed to remaining competitive in the marketplace by delivering products and services that provide value to customers. The Company hopes to maintain a competitive edge by embracing and protecting strong organizational values, pursuing a clearly understood and worthwhile purpose, attracting and retaining highly qualified and experienced personnel, who are motivated everyday and embracing the philosophy that change leads to improvement.

OVERCOMING RECESSION

“We’ve been able to continue to work over the downturn because of our work in the oil sands,” says Wolowich. “And because we continued to work during the downturn, it allowed us to expand the business like we did last fall.” Impact 2000 was fortunate enough to have clients with aggressive budgets and to take part in shooting seismic in the oil sands to keep its head above water.

“I never really concerned myself with what everybody else was doing,” adds Wolowich. “I always concentrated more on what we were doing and looked at some of the jobs we’ve done in the past. I’d like to say that every job we did was great, but we did learn from our experiences.”

LOOKING AHEAD

Looking forward, Impact 2000 Inc. intends to stay consistent with its strict work ethic, relying upon its conscientious employees while focusing on what they do and doing it right in an effort to stay successful.

“I think we’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing,” says Wolowich. “As far as things we’re doing now, they seem to be working, so if we can have successful projects and we can learn from them, then we will continue to grow”
