The Calgary Stampede announced yesterday that Garth Brooks will be performing at the 2012 Calgary Stampede. Leaving his post at the Wynn Las Vegas temporarily, Brooks’ concert event will be held on Thursday July 12th at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
“Garth Brooks has a long history with Calgary,” says Paul Rosenberg, vice-president Programming, Calgary Stampede. “We are thrilled to have him here during our Centennial year. Garth is a country music legend; to have him perform at the Centennial Calgary Stampede is incredible.”
Brooks is globally known as one of country music’s most adored performers. His accomplishments include being named the best-selling solo artist of the 20th Century by the Recording Industry Association of America, six albums that have topped the 10 million mark, 100 million albums sold and other multiple prestigious awards. Brooks retired from touring in 1998 but started performances of a special one-man show created for Wynn, Las Vegas in 2009.
